DESCRIPTION:Join me on the evening of April 22 at Broadside Books in Northampton for the release of two new books. The first is The Umbrella\, by Tove Ditlevsen\, a collection of short stories I translated from Danish. This volume was selected by Penguin Books as one of ninety books they have selected for their ninetieth anniversary. The second book is Destinations\, my ninth poetry collection\, published by Homestead Lighthouse Press. Following short readings from both books\, I will be joined for a brief conversation with web designer and artist promoter Fungai Tichawangana. There will be refreshments and books for sale and signing.

Among his seventeen translated books is Dependency by Tove Ditlevsen\, which made the New York Times Best 10 Books of 2021 as book three of The Copenhagen Trilogy. Michael’s five books of original poetry include Small Sovereign\, which won first place at the 2022 Los Angeles Book Festival. His work has appeared in dozens of publications including The New Yorker\, Rattle\, and The Harvard Review. DESCRIPTION:Last year\, some of the poets who have taken part in the Poetry Critique Meetup run by Straw Dog Writers Guild in conjunction with the Northampton Center for the Arts and facilitated by Michael Favala Goldman came together for a reading of some of their best work.
